Service providers often share the same social stressors as their clients, but need to put their personal problems to one side so they can care for others. This can make work very stressful.
Self-care is about taking care of yourself physically and emotionally so that you feel supported and cared for. Self-care also helps you to help others. Self-care is NOT selfish! It is every important as you can’t care for others if you don’t first care for yourself. People do many different things to relax and they should be encouraged to continue doing the things which make them happy.
In this self-care section, we have included some mindful exercises which have been shown to help with stress, and which can be done in a short time. These exercises can also be done anywhere, at other times, as a daily practice to help manage stress. If done regularly, the benefits are greater.
