This exercise helps relax the mind and body, involving paying attention to your body as you walk. You can use the same approach as you eat, drink tea, wash the dishes, or brush your teeth.
- This can be done anywhere – inside or outside.
- Stand up and take your attention to your breath as you breathe in and out.
- Notice how you are standing and how the earth is supporting you.
- Start walking about, being mindful not to bump into people or furniture!
- Notice the muscles you use as you walk, notice how your feet feel in your shoes, the way your clothes feel against your skin.
- Continue for a little while, notice the temperature, any smells in the room.
- When you stop notice how your body is holding you erect.
- Take a deep breathe in and out.
- Look around you and smile.
