Objective: To collect and analyse data


    Hand in by Monday May 3rd

 

You will need to collect data and put it into a statistical package eg Stata 6 which you were shown in Block 1. You can use Statransfer to get the data from Excel which may be easier for data entry into Stata 6.

You will then need to analyse your data. 

   

 

Learning activities:   

 A SIMPLE EXAMPLE:  THIS IS BASED ON THE COMPLEX EXAMPLE AND SCIENTIFIC PAPER BELOW ON THE  NERVOUS SYSTEM EFFECTS OF OCCUPATIONAL  MANGANESE EXPOSURE IN SOUTH AFRICAN SMELTER WORKERS.  

A COMPLEX EXAMPLE:  LOOK AT THE RESULTS SECTION  OF THIS PAPER ON THE  NERVOUS SYSTEM EFFECTS OF OCCUPATIONAL  MANGANESE EXPOSURE IN SOUTH AFRICAN SMELTER WORKERS.

Evaluation: 

Steps 1 through 6 will count 3 marks each (3x6 = 18), the final report 3 marks, and the final presentation oral 3 marks. This gives a total of 24 marks.

Marks will be allocated as follows:
