Brief Overview
This resource provides a guide to occupation based community development practice for occupational therapy students and practitioners. The framework identifies the iterative phases of such intervention as Initiating; Designing; Implementation; Monitoring and Evaluation. The framework begins with an introduction to Occupation- based community development, explaining the focus and significance of this practice. This is followed with a detailed explanation of each aspect of the process of occupation based community development practice. A case study is presented to illustrate the elements of the practice framework. Linked to the case study, are a set of questions intended for students to practice the components of reasoning required for this practice. Relevant theories from occupational science and community development are identified within each aspect of the framework.
