Finding Free books, textbooks and journal articlesClick to collapse
Free information resources are not always credible. The Libraries provide free credible resources to assist students and academics with their research. These free resources can be immediately accessed, without any barriers, like the need to first sign in before downloading the full text. Free resources, that have been authored by UCT’s academics and students, such as ETDs, journal articles, chapters in books, OERs and research reports, are available from the institutional repository, OpenUCT. Open access journals are also accessible, as well as open books and textbooks.
The Library has made provision for accessing more than 80 million open resources which can be accessed via the Library's Open Scholarship portal.
The Centre for Innovation in Learning and Teaching (CILT) has produced a number of resources for those looking for openly-licensed materials or who want to learn more about open licences themselves. Please consult the following resources for more information.
