Audio recordings & podcasts
Audio recordings and podcasts add value to the teaching and learning experience. They can convey emotion in ways that may not be conveyed or received from a text. Hearing a voice, as opposed to reading a text, can foster student-tutor connection and engage students in course material. Complex concepts can sometimes be more easily explained verbally than in a written text. While video has many of the same benefits, audio is less demanding to create and requires less data to download.
How-to Guide:
- You can use your cell phone, laptop or online digital recorders such as Otter.ai, Vocaroo and VirtualSpeech to record your audios and podcasts.
Example:
- There are examples provided in the Vula Help documentation here for more information.
Group Settings:
- Please make sure that you upload your files on Vula so that every student has access.
- Avoid sharing the files on external sites such as Google Drive or Dropbox as they are not zero-rated and this could be a barrier for some students.
Key points:
- Audios and podcasts help to foster a student-tutor connection.
- You can use your mobile phone, tablet, laptop or online digital recorders for your audios and podcasts.
