Module 4: OCCUPATIONAL ASTHMA

OBJECTIVES

By the end of this module, you should:
  1. have an overview of work-related asthma and its epidemiology;
  2. be able to differentiate between immunological (allergic) and non-immunological (irritant induced) occupational asthma;
  3. be familiar with some of the common causative agents for occupational asthma, the high-risk jobs and associated industries involved;
  4. be able to evaluate a worker with suspected occupational asthma;
  5. be familiar with legislation that pertains to occupational asthma;
  6. be familiar with the management of occupational asthma at an individual and group level;
  7. be familiar with the prognosis of workers with occupational asthma.
