 UCT_Cares

UCT Call Centre and Referral System (UCT_Cares) provides the campus community with a central point of contact for the information and services they need. Email uctcares@uct.ac.za to get help or referral to help.  

 

 Student Wellness Service

Contact Student Wellness if you feel your mental health is declining. A peer counsellor, social worker, psychologist or psychiatric nurse is available for phone consultations. You need to book online to make an appointment for a consultation during office hours.  UCT Student Wellness Service contact details: 021 650 5620 or 021 650 1271 (after hours).

The SADAG: South African Depression and Anxiety Group UCT Student Careline is available 24/7. Send an SMS to 31393, someone will phone you back. This service is available 24/7.

 

 Survivor Support

If you need assistance following a rape, sexual assault or domestic violence please call, SMS, WhatsApp or miss call the 24 hour standby number: 072 393 7824. The Office for Inclusivity and Change has also created an online survivor support groups. More information is available on the OIC website

 

 ICTS

ICTS supports your remote learning experience. This handy Remote Learning Guide will answer most of your questions and give you valuable tech tips. If you need more help, see page 4 of the guide for different channels where you can reach ICTS.

 

 Libraries

UCT's Libraries provide online support for learning during the remote teaching period. More information about their virtual services is available.

 

 Careers Service

Are you uncertain about your career journey, job searching, or need to improve your CV?  Access the Careers Service Vula site, job portal MyCareer or Careers Service website. To talk to a Careers Advisor use the "Ask a question"  function in MyCareer or send a message on the Careers Service Vula site. A Careers Advisor will get back to you via Vula, email or phone.

 

 Disability Services

Students with disabilities can contact the Disability Service through the website and the following social media sites: 

 

 Writing Centre

The Writing Centre is a dynamic support centre, created to provide walk-in, one-on-one consultancy service for all students and staff. The Writing Lab is operating online where students can make an online booking and upload their documentation.

To access the Writing Lab:

  1. Register an account on UCT.mywconline.com
  2. Login using your UCT e-mail and password and select the Writing Centre 2020 under ‘Available Schedules. If you are a health sciences student please select Health Sciences 2020
  3. Book your time-slot!
