SEM of Organ of Corti:.

The organ rests on the basilar membrane (BM) with Outer (1, 2 and 3) and Inner Hair Cells (IHC).

Other labels refer to:

     SN: Space of Nuel
     OP: Outer Pillars
     TC: Tunnel of Corti
     NF: Nerve fibres crossing the TC on their way to the OHC.

The IHCs seem to be intact while some of the OHCs are lost or damaged. Just above the 2 a giant hair cell is visible.
