OBJECTIVES

By the end of this module, you should:
  1. understand the reasons for the use of gloves;
  2. know the types of gloves in common use;
  3. appreciate the limitations inherent to the use of gloves;
  4. know the hazards associated with glove use.

Preliminary Note:

Gloves are seen as a panacea for all skin disease but are they? Before recommending the use of gloves what should you know? Before proceeding with this presentation, perhaps you could jot down 5 points that you would consider important in your decision to prescribe the use of gloves in an occupation setting. At the end of the exercise you can check if your points were valid or not.
