List of RASTs available for investigating occupational agents:
- Drugs: antiobiotics.
- Enzymes: alpha-amylase
- Ethylene oxide
- Formaldehyde/Formalin
- Food: grain (wheat, rye, maize), spices, mushroom, soya bean, sesame seed, garlic
- Insects: grain weevil
- Isocyanates: TDI, MDI, HDI
- Laboratory animals: Guinea pig epithelium, mouse urine, rat urine, rabbit epithelium, horse dander, bird feathers, duck/goose/chicken feathers
- Latex: Hevea braziliensis
- Moulds: Aspergillus
- Phthalic anhydride
- Seafood: various fish/crustacean/mollusc species, parasites (Anisakis)
- Storage mites: Acarus siro, Glycyphagus domesticus, Lepidoglypus destructor, Tyrophagus putreseus
Wood: mahogany, ash.
* Note: Other RASTs can be developed by the Allergology Unit (Groote Schuur hospital: Ph 021-404 2395) and the Immunology/Microbiology Laboratory (National Centre for Occupational Health: Ph 011-725 4676) depending on demand and availability of methods in the literature.
