A case-control study was set up to investigate associations with myocardial infarction (heart attack). Information on smoking status was collected from a total of 789 cases and controls. Current smoking (in the past 3 months) was reported by 157 of the 366 cases and 110 of the 423 controls.

Calculate the attributable proportion for smoking in the population from which these cases arose.
