THE FACTORY VISIT OCCUPATIONAL HYGIENE RISK ASSESSMENT:

An 8 step approach

1. The Factory Visit task description

2. An overview of the process of Occupational Hygiene Risk Assessment
3. A checklist to guide the factory walkthrough inspection.
4. Identify and record the hazards at various locations or arising from work processes using the form provided. This form is then used to enter the results of the other steps below in the appropriate columns.

5. Qualitative or semi-quantitative risk assessment.
Rate the risks by estimating the risk score ‘Risk’ = probability of occurrence *exposure frequency * health effect

6. Simplify the risk rating to risk symbols for prioritisation
7. Examine the controls in place for these risks
8. Propose modifications to controls and risk reduction interventions and the institution of a risk monitoring programme
