TOX 9.1: Overview

GENERAL OBJECTIVES

By the end of this module you should

  1. Have a classification system for organic solvents;
  2. Understand the general (class) effects of solvents;
  3. Be familiar with the specific effects of subclasses of solvents and of individual solvents of importance.
Depth: You need to have a good understanding of organic solvents as they are so common in industry, laboratories and hospitals.

You are not expected to read this start to end, but the general bits are worth reading, as well individual sections which capture your interest. I have found this chapter extremely useful in preparing lecture materials and I still refer to them for individual cases.
